Sir - A national newspaper, reporting on the recent local elections, had an interesting insight: where results had gone against national trends for and against political parties, it was often because people were taking revenge for the introduction of two-weekly rubbish collections.
Those of our local councillors who are smugly congratulating themselves on introducing the two-weekly collections in winter in a non-election year should reflect that revenge is a dish best eaten cold. Indeed, in this household the two-weekly collections dish has gone into the freezer firmly date-tagged for the next local elections, and its consumption is anticipated with relish.
