Rod Bransgrove believes that the England and Wales Cricket Board needs to do more than simply replace Duncan Fletcher as coach.

ECB Academy director Peter Moores is expected to replace Fletcher on a caretaker basis when the England coach stands down after tomorrow's final World Cup match against the West Indies.

Fletcher's decision to resign after eight years in the position was announced yesterday, but Hampshire Cricket chairman Bransgrove said: "I don't think it's the only thing that English cricket needs to do.

"Duncan's taken a lot of flak recently but was a very good coach for a period of time.

"The real problem is at management level.

"We need processes and a system in place which can manage Team England, not just someone to coach the team.

"We need to make sure the structure's right and have an England manager to take responsibility for other issues, like administration and reporting directly to the ECB".

Bransgrove, a former member of the ECB management board, believes that Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody should feature in the new set-up.

He said: "Tom Moody has done very well for Sri Lanka and by bringing together players from wide-ranging backgrounds and making them an impressive unit, he has shown he's a good man manager.

"Peter Moores is also a very good coach but I'm not sure whether he'd be as good a manager.

"If the ECB were to appoint a manager and a coach, the manager would probably need to come from a business background and be responsible for general management of the side and budgets".
