THE annual Honiton Cycle Ride is taking place on Sunday, May 13 to raise money for the charity Hospiscare.

Hundreds of local families are expected to attend the Honiton Cycle Ride event, which consists of five, 15, 25 and 50 mile routes, as well as a Mountain Bike Challenge', meaning anyone can take part, whatever their ability.

The highlight of the event is the Mountain Bike Challenge', where the more experienced riders will tackle the steep slopes and muddy inclines at the Land Rover Experience West Country - a landscape that challenges even the more robust of 4x4 vehicles.

Alan Rowe, who is organising the event, said: "Over 300 people turned out to support the charity last year raising over £7,000 and we hope to achieve the same again this year.

"The event has become more successful each year. It's great fun and really gets the community together, all supporting a really worthwhile local cause. I urge anyone who would like to take part or sponsor the event to get in touch."

All participants receive a medal and are entered into a prize draw to win a either a tandem or a bicycle worth £300.

The Honiton Cycle Rides will commence at 10am at the Otter Inn, Weston on Sunday, May 13.
