RADCLIFFE Borough manager Andy Johnston is determined his relegated side end their season on a winning note - for the fans.

A second successive season of struggle has seen the club drop through the UniBond Premier League trapdoor, but the Boro faithful have remained defiant to the end and will travel in numbers to the club's final game of the season at Ilkeston next week - in fancy dress.

"The fans have been brilliant all season, and have never complained - even when we were relegated," said Johnston, ahead of his side's clash with Guiseley at Stainton Park.

"That is why I want the lads to go out there and win in our final home game of the season."

Boro were brought back down to earth with a bang on Saturday when they were crushed 4-0 by Ossett, less than a week after they had humbled promotion-chasing Fleetwood 3-0.

"We were poor defensively and we just couldn't cope with a side that was quite tall and strong," said Johnston. "This is something we will look to rectify next season."
