THE group met for their fortnightly meeting in the Parish Hall on April 13 to hear the speaker, Paul Cook, tell them about the fun he has had rearing ostriches.

He said that ostrich meat is particularly good for those with high cholesterol. He brought along samples explaining that the skins are often made into an expensive handbag or purse and the feathers into dusters as well as being decorative in other ways.

Two of the ladies, Margaret Duck and Trisha Brown, said they had actually ridden an ostrich in South Africa.

The next meeting will be a charity evening on April 27 in aid of Penrose School at the Parish Centre at 7.30pm. There will also be a bottle tombola and a bring and buy sale. New members are always welcome.
