Last seen in Brighton duetting with Bonnie Prince Billy while wearing a cape, Scout Niblett can be sexy, scary, sweet and lots of other words that don't begin with "s".
Like PJ Harvey and Nina Nastasia, she's most compelling when it comes to writing about the darker things in life and her voice, by turns rage-raw and vulnerable, sounds a bit like them too.
But this fan of the dressing up box is kookier by far: new single Dinosaur Egg opens with the would-be host of a dinosaur party hoping said egg will hatch in time.
Taking her moniker from a character in To Kill A Mockingbird, Jean Louise Finch would perform monologues set to music at art college in Nottingham.
Recording since 2001, her live shows see her shout gleefully and bang on a bass drum. "I feel kind of lucky," she says, "that I can scream my head off in public and get away with it."
- Starts 9pm, tickets £8/£6.
