Now we have had the council elections when a big majority did not bother to vote. Why was this? Was it because they realised it was a waste of time? Has the council done anything in recent years for Chippenham? One example I think they were involved with was the Western Arches and the disgusting job of repairing them.
What we need is a council of people with no party allegiances who work for the town. If we had a council of this type, perhaps we would have a chance of an eastern bypass. If a study was taken of the traffic coming into town it would be found that the bulk of traffic was travelling through and not into town.
And as for Asda taking business away from the town, most people who shop at Sainsbury's and Morrison's don't come into town and they certainly would not walk in.
Mrs Buckle was right about the few NIMBYs protesting. I am sure if Asda did get built most of the protesters would use it.
