A WYRE Forest all-girl group are looking forward to hitting the right notes when they sing in front of X Factor judges after getting through the show's first round of auditions.

Kidderminster-based four piece, Ladies First, are planning to wow Simon Cowell and co in the Midlands heat of the ITV1 show.

The group's two founder members, Natalie Davies and Kate Scully, both 23, formed the group in February after 35 singers answered an appeal to audition for the two remaining positions.

After picking fellow Kidderminster resident, Michaela Evans, 19, and Birmingham-based Gemma Higgins, 23, the singers headed for a preliminary round at the NEC on May 2, where they were selected to go through to the first televised heat at the same location on July 18.

Birmingham Road resident, Miss Davies, said: "At the NEC, I didn't think they'd like us but now we're facing Simon Cowell we just can't wait.

"There were a couple of other girl bands there but they didn't seem to have an image but we've worked hard on both our singing and our look. We're quietly confident.

"Kate wants Sharon Osbourne to like us so we have a chance of being picked to go to Ozzy Osbourne's house because she's obsessed by him!"

The women, who have all been singing and dancing since childhood, practise twice a week and have already received interest from record labels after producing their own studio material but are committed, by contract, to X Factor until the autumn when the show's finale is televised, later this year.

Miss Scully said: "We're going to get ourselves into gear and practise the ballad and the pop song we've picked to perform. We're just going to enjoy ourselves."
