WARRINGTON Town have appointed former Leigh RMI manager Andy Nelson as their new assistant to Ian Street after Bob Howard was unable to continue with the club because of work commitments.

Howard, who is the father of Town striker Phil, joined the club when Street became manager in January.

But he will be replaced by Nelson, who managed Leigh in the Conference North during the 2005/06 season and has also coached at Sheffield United, Manchester City, Stockport and Rochdale.

Street, who has thanked Howard for his contribution during the past few months, said: "Andy has a wealth of knowledge of non-league football at Unibond and Conference standard and will be a welcome asset to the club.

"He is an A-licence coach educator in schools and colleges and with the Football Association, and has coached at four professional clubs, as well as his managerial experience at Leigh RMI and at Trafford in the North West Counties League.

"Hopefully Andy will have a big contribution in helping Warrington progress in the future and I am looking forward to working with him."
