Sporting students from Palmer's College in Grays contributed to the Eastern Region's victory in the British Colleges' National Finals held at Loughborough.

The event, now in its twentieth year, saw over 2,000 young competitors in a wide range of events. They came from further education colleges across the UK.

Notable successes for Palmer's participants were a trampolining gold medal for Karis Gregory and a fifth place for Anthony Williams.

Swimmers Jessica Ford and Natalie Ward both won bronze medals. Top five places were achieved in badminton doubles by Zoe Harvey and Vicky Russell and in table tennis by Kelly Drewry, whilst Lisa Morgans put in a fine performance in the cross country event.

Sally Willett, Palmer's College's curriculum manager for team games, commented, "This was a very successful championship for Palmer's College. I was especially impressed by the team spirit, which was excellent. It was great to be part of the Eastern Region's overall triumph."
