AH, Provence. That golden, light and luscious scenery just acts everyone and everything else off the screen, whatever the storyline.
In this adaptation, Russell Crowe is Max, a big-bucks city type who inherits his uncle's vineyard estate in Provence.
He arrives with a view to sell it but finds a stack of childhood memories, undrinkable plonk and curmudgeonly local characters.
You've seen it all before.
Crowe's attempt at quirky eyebrow-raised light-heartedness isn't entirely convincing, but the supporting cast - and, of course, the scenery - help save it.
This wasn't a cinema hit, but then it was always going to slip down best at home accompanied by a large glass of red.
