In 1962 11 East Berliners escaped to the West through a tunnel. They had built the tunnel six feet high, so women wouldn't have to crawl.

You can forget April showers. Last month was the sunniest April in Bradford for more than 30 years.
With 168.4 hours of sun it fell short of the April 1951 record of 173.8 sun hours.
The month was drier, warmer and sunnier than last August.
April 27 had the most sun with 10.8 hours.

Bradford Corporation has applied to the Yorkshire area traffic commissioners for permission to continue the amended bus timetables which have been operating since January, because of the petrol rationing.
If the application is granted, evening services will remain reduced between 7pm and 9pm. An officer of the passenger transport development told the T&A they were considering cutting down the evening services before the Suez crisis.
