Conservative Party leader David Cameron visited Blackpool to congratulate party workers after the Tories surged to power in the resort.
Mr Cameron met newly elected councillors and went on a short walkabout on the Promenade close to the North Pier on Friday afternoon, (May 4).
He hailed Thursday's success at the ballot box where the Tories gained 13 seats, mainly at the expense of Labour, who lost 12 seats, with the Liberal Democrats down one.
The Town Hall will now be under Conservative control for the next four years having been under Labour leadership since 1991.
He said: "To regain control of Blackpool after 16 long years shows the inroads the party is making in the North West, where we now control more councils than Labour.
"Blackpool is an iconic town in the region and I'm sure the council leadership will drive on the resort to increasing success."
