WHEN you are looking for a scalp they don't come any bigger than toppling the league leaders and that's exactly what Hayle Res achieved with a 2-1 win against Porthleven Res in the first division of the Whirlwind Sports Falmouth-Helston League.

It was all the more remarkable given that seven days earlier Hayle were humbled 6-0.

Mawnan remained in touch with the leaders after a hard-earned 4-2 win at Helston Res with goals from Gregg Renfree (2), Duncan Whatmore, and Kevin Morrris.

Mousehole Res picked up important points with a 2-0 win against Wendron Res after scoring through David Prouse and Perran Reynolds.

In the Percy Stephens Cup St Agnes were 3-1 winners against Falmouth Athletic with the goals coming from Paul Blake, Scott Hoare, and Luke Rousell. They will now meet Lizard Argyle in the semi-final.

In division two Penryn Athletic IV drew 0-0 with Pendeen and Mawnan Res won 3-1 at Perranporth Res with two goals from Alex Weddell and one from Sean Rickard.

Constantine were unable to raise a side to play at Mawgan United and Perranwell Res were 2-0 winners against Hayle III with goals from Ryan Thomas and Lewis Bridges.

In division three Jim Leach scored for Porthleven Rangers in their 2-1 home defeat by Falmouth Albion Res and Sean Wilkins and Dave Thomas scored for Trevenson United Res in their 3-2 defeat at home by RNAS Culdrose Res.
