STOUPORT let a two-goal lead slip as they crashed to a 3-2 defeat at home to Cinderford Town - a result that ensures they finish bottom of the Southern League Midland Division.

Phil Mullen's side's only hope of avoiding the drop rests with league bosses coming to their rescue when the new league set-up is finalised in the summer.

Victory would have seen Swifts finish above relegation rivals Berkhamsted Town. And it looked as though the points would be staying at Walshes Meadow as Stourport netted twice inside the opening 18 minutes.

The first came from a Steve Frost header, the midfielder diverting Richard Colwell's corner into the net at the near post on 14 minutes.

Colwell doubled the lead with a neat finish, wrong-footing visiting keeper Matt Bath before slotting home.

But Swifts conceded five minutes before the break when Richard Kear ran through before placing his shot beyond the grasp of home keeper Craig Ladek.

Cinderford continued their fightback after the interval with a double blow to dash Stourport's hopes.

On 63 minutes, Nathan Jukes found the back of the net with a long-range free-kick and a miserable season for Swifts was complete five minutes from time when Kear bagged his second of the game.
