PAUL Sturrock has urged his players to look up rather than down as Swindon Town prepare for another promotion party on Saturday.

The Robins can secure a return to League One with a point at play-off chasing Bristol Rovers, regardless of fourth placed MK Dons' result at Wycombe.

Despite fans being frustrated after seeing Town miss out on promotion at the County Ground, a positive Sturrock is pleased his side have kept in touch with Hartlepool and Walsall.

"We can still win the league, six points could cause a lot of mayhem to the two above us," said the boss. "It is something we have underwritten due to their results in the last couple of weeks.

"There is a slight glimmer when you look at it, statistically it is an option. I will not be losing too much sleep about it, but it makes interesting reading."

The manager believes the Dons will push his side all the way and wants them to forget about the pressure cooker atmosphere at the Memorial Ground.

Sturrock said: "MK Dons will win this week, we have got to be professional and make sure we do the job and get the points."

With promotion virtually assured, the Scot has started looking beyond the weekend.

Contract negotiations will re-open with players whose deals expire in the summer, including captain Ady Williams and top scorer Christian Roberts.

Sturrock said: "I have made plans for whether we make it or we don't.

"I have an idea of what player would be kept if we were in this league or League One.

"The problem with the players who are out of contract is that it will be very competitive for them.

"I am not sure we can go into that market financially but I am hopeful that some of the players I have had at other clubs might be interested in coming here."
