Tim Orrell believes Woodlands still have much to prove before they can be likened to the great Pudsey Congs side of recent years.

As the sides prepare to do battle at the Britannia Ground on Saturday, the skipper of the 2006 treble winners conceded his side were still "novices" compared with the Congs side which won five straight league titles.

"We have a long way to go before we can even think about emulating what they did. We are novices in comparison," said Orrell.

With two successive titles under their belt, Woodlands are again among the favourites to make it a hat-trick after keeping the core of their side together from last year.

But Orrell isn't looking that far ahead.

"I am in education and to be frank, targets do my head in. You can only work with what you've got at the time.

"If you were to ask me what the long-term target for Woodlands is, I would say winning on Saturday and then after that, winning on Sunday."

Congs are hoping bowler Glenn Roberts will be available for the big clash.

Roberts' availability could be limited for much of the first half of the season due to teaching commitments but new skipper Barbar Butt is hopeful the slow left-armer is free tomorrow.

His presence would also beef up the batting which is missing overseas player Afaq Raheem, who is still with Pakistan A and due to arrive next week.

"Having Glen would be a big boost," admitted Butt.

He concedes that facing the two-time reigning title-holders in only the second game of the season is not ideal.

Congs - who have former Woodlands player Nathan Bromby in their ranks - are a much-changed outfit this season and Butt is still easing into his own role at the helm after taking over from Matthew Doidge.

"I wish we had more games under our belt but it doesn't matter. We have to play them some time."

He has been encouraged by Congs' start which saw them crush Hanging Heaton away by more than 100 runs.

"It was an exceptional debut from Tom Glover (who took eight for 32) in what was a good start for us, especially on their patch."

Elsewhere, Bowling Old Lane make their Division One home bow at home to Pudsey St Lawrence, while two sides who both started well last week, Baildon and East Bierley, meet at Jenny Lane.

Cleckheaton look to bounce back at home Hanging Heaton after losing to newcomers Manningham Mills last week. Mills visit Brighouse.

The game of the day in Division Two could be at Esholt where big-spending Gomersal are the visitors.
