A CHARITY golf day staged by Romsey-based Abbey Cleaning at Wellow Golf Club was such a success that another one is being planned for next year.

The event attracted more than 20 golfers and raised £1,200 for Save the Children, with Wellow Golf Club helping the fund-raising efforts by auctioning a round of golf for four, which raised £100.

There was also a pool competition, a quiz and fancy dress in addition to the dinner in the evening.

Firms who helped the cause by making donations were Michael Rhodes Estate Agents, Pains Fireworks, The Rising Sun (Colden Common), Romsey Crane Hire, Envirotec UK Cleaning Supplies, Trenchmaster Plant Hire, The Meadens Group, Belgarum Estate Agents, Michael Rhodes Lettings, Misan Timmber.Chelco Finance and Leasing, Stoner Home Improvements, The Kings Arms (Lockerley), Town and Country Skips, Nicholas Zorab Estate Agents and Abbey Cleaning.

Winners on the day were: Individual stableford, John Lamb (The Meadens Group), longest drive, Gary Whitfield (Romsey Crane Hire Ltd ); nearest the pin, Stafford Lind (Pains Fireworks ); fancy dress - Mark Ruth ( Aldi ) Abbey Cleaning is giving further support to Save the Children by donating 10 per cent of its current carpet cleaning revenue.
