SIR. Well done to Wandsworth Council's health scrutiny committee for starting its own consultation on the Bolingbroke Hospital and including what we all want, ie "to retain the services until it can be developed as the local community hospital for Battersea".

The Bolingbroke is ideally situated in an environment that is ideal for local health services. It has good public transport, no parking problems and the location is so easily accessible for all, particularly the elderly. this would not be the case if the services were moved to the locations given in the trust's public consultation.

The proposed move, said only to be a temporary solution, must not happen - once the services leave the Bolingbroke, they will be lost forever. Too many of our small, local hospitals have been lost, we must not lose another, particularly one whose reputation is second to none.
