VISITORS to Ullswater will be able to cross the lake on a new addition to the three-strong group of steamers on the lake.
The classic 58-year-old vessel, called the Lady Wakefield, was commissioned on Tuesday, at a special ceremony performed by Princess Alexandra.
The Lady Wakefield, previously known as Totnes Castle, was brought to Ullswater in 2005, after spending years ferrying passengers on the River Dart and Plymouth Sound, and has since undergone a major refurbishment.
The boat, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Vessels, will carry 130 passengers, allowing its owners, Ullswater Steamers, to offer daytime charters for conferences, weddings and group visits for the first time.
