AN exhibition exploring the beauty of nature will open at the Subscription Rooms in Stroud on Saturday.

Seen From the Heart combines the work of painter and video maker Katie McCue and photographer Margaret Webb, who share a love of nature and a sensitivity to her many moods and faces.

From wider landscapes to a close scrutiny of insects and flowers, nothing escapes their vision and appreciation.

Katie works at Stroud College, where she teaches art, drama and music to adults with learning difficulties.

She has had several exhibitions in the area and, with husband Danny McCue and their band Souled and Healed, organises the annual AIDS benefit at the Subscription Rooms.

This year they hope to move on to do several smaller performances using narrative, poems and songs about slavery.

As part of the Seen From the Heart exhibition, Katie will be exhibiting five of her videos which will run on a 30 minute show reel, alongside her paintings.

"The videos have a political angle to them," Katie said.

"They look at the state of the planet and what we're doing to it. I try to express my love of the planet and my spiritual connection with it. I have a genuine passion for painting, video, music, poetry and singing. I have to get it all out and sometimes they all come out together in a rush, which is what this exhibition is about."

Seen From the Heart runs from Saturday, April 21 until April 28 (closed on Sunday), between 10am and 5pm, at the Subscription Rooms.
