I FEEL I must write about the disgrace which is supposed to be the recycling centre at George Street West, Blackburn.
I was there over the Easter weekend and can only describe it as a tip. I had gone to do my recycling and was amazed to see the pile of rubbish piled in the middle of the yard.
When I went to put my wood in the wood bin it was also full of rubbish.
I then noticed everything was going in as rubbish. There was nowhere for anything to be recycled. I will be amazed if anything did get recycled over the weekend as there were builders in vans and even a flat bed lorry bringing gear in.
I asked one of the advisers why they were allowed on and was told they have permits and if they intervened the council would not back them up but give them a reprimand instead.
Whoever is in charge of issuing permits needs to sort this out. I, for one, now know where all my council tax is going. It's to pay for all the builders' rubbish to be removed. I would also like to know how much was recycled at the weekend. Nothing is my bet.
