VILLAGERS are being invited to get to know the people who want to represent them on town and borough councils.

Sedgefield Village Residents' Forum has organised an open meeting for people to meet candidates standing for a place on Sedgefield Town Council and Sedgefield Borough Council.

Organisers hope that the event, at Sedgefield Parish Hall on Monday, at 7pm, will help voters make informed choices when they go to the polls on May 3.

Candidates will all give a brief outline of themselves and then answer questions from the community.

The 18 candidates standing for election to the 15 seats on Sedgefield Town Council are:

Allan Blakemore (Lab), David Ralph Brown (C), May Brown (Lab), Helen Jacquetta Clifford-Brown (Ind), Norman James Dunn (Ind), Maire Garrood (Ind), Alan Leslie Goddard (Lab), Lynne Mary Goddard (Ind), Susan Margaret Green (Lab), Sue Hannan (Lab), Tim Jeanes (Sedgefield Before Politics), John Robinson (Lab), Maxine Robinson (Lab), Ian George Noble Sutherland (Lab), Sheila Anne Sutherland (Lab), Rita Louise Taylor (Lab), Dudley John Waters (Ind), Jim Wayman (Unaffiliated).
