WOLVES have expressed a desire to turn on the style this season but it was a back to basics policy that proved so successful on Saturday.

Paul Cullen last week described Harlequins as the Cliff Thorburns of Super League' because of their methodical style of play and Wolves looked well and truly snookered as they fell behind 12-0 inside 15 minutes.

Things looked to be going to pot in black as Wolves - wearing their new away kit for the first time at the Stoop - played like Ronnie O'Sullivan on one of his dark days.

The talent was there but Wolves were too adventurous for their own good, with mistakes handing possession and territory to an in-form Quins side that took advantage with two tries.

Cullen, annoyed that his troops were not following the gameplan, ventured down to the touchline to try to restore order before re-emphasising the message during a tasty' half-time discussion.

But once Wolves got back on the straight and narrow they always looked likely to win the game.

They had too much ability and defensive resolve for the hosts, starving them of possession by incredibly not conceding a single penalty in the second half and completing 80 per cent of their sets.

In truth, the comeback was well underway before half time with the excellent Martin Gleeson a constant menace. He got Wolves off the mark before having a hand in Henry Fa'afili's first try of the season.

Brent Grose's exit after 11 minutes to have 10 stitches below his right eye meant an early return for Chris Bridge, who was named as a substitute in the capital.

Bridge took Grose's wing spot before eventually taking over from Michael Sullivan in the halves.

Grose returned for the second half but Paul Johnson was unable to resume, having bravely struggled through the first period after being sick in the dressing room before kick-off.

Vinnie Anderson switched to left centre and he was involved in the move that led to Stuart Reardon putting Wolves in front after Fa'afili's second had levelled matters. Briers then landed a drop goal to confirm back to back league wins for the first time since May.

The result ended a run of three straight defeats in London, yet players and staff were still not completely satisfied with their day's work.

Wolves really do mean business this year.
