Hampshire League 2004.

Ludwig Leisure B'stke 3, Michelmersh & T 0.

After picking up four points from their previous two games Michelmersh went into this fixture away to lowly LL Basingstoke hoping to continue their good form. Sadly, it was not to be as they never really got going and were comprehensively beaten in what was a disappointing end of season affair.

Playing on a hard and bumpy surface both teams made a rather sluggish start before a defensive mix-up gifted LLB the lead midway through the half.

This breakthrough gave the hosts a boost and after some good pressure a well-taken free-kick deceived keeper Dan Thebe for the second.

After the break LLB remained in control and although Michelmersh had their share of possession they never seriously threatened the keeper. The result was put beyond doubt on 75 minutes when an LLB forward was allowed to run through unchallenged and stroked home the third goal.

Over Wallop 1 Michelmersh & Timsbury 3.

After their lack-lustre display against Basingstoke, Michelmersh were pleased to make a quick return to action on Easter Monday and showed a vast improvement as they triumphed 3-1 away to rock bottom Over Wallop.

The opening exchanges were fairly even as both teams adjusted to the hard surface but as the match progressed Michelmersh began to take control and create chances. Eventually the deadlock was broken when striker Alex Hoyle fired home on 34 minutes.

However, Wallop showed good spirit and within five minutes were on level terms. Michelmersh ended the half strongly and when Hoyle was felled they were awarded a penalty which Shane Lewis converted to restore their lead.

The second half saw Michelmersh looking the more dominant. Wallop kept plugging away but Mersh defended well to frustrate the home side's attack until a third goal on 75 minutes put the game beyond reach. A good flick-on by Lee Strange found Hoyle who fired home his second.

l On Saturday afternoon Mersh host Four Marks and on Monday evening they host East Lodge and on Wednesday evening host LL Basingstoke in what will be their final match of the season.
