I am writing to encourage your readers to join me in helping the British Heart Foundation (BHF) shops' stock donation appeal.

By having a clear out and donating good quality items to their local BHF shop, your readers will help turn unwanted items into lifesaving research and equipment.

BHF shops urgently need donations of good quality clean clothes, shoes, accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, videos, toys and bric-a-brac. I regularly donate to my local BHF shop and pick up some great items in the process.

Most people know someone affected by heart disease and all donations make a tremendous difference to the vital work the BHF undertakes every day.

If we all donated just one carrier bag of good quality items this month, it would really make a difference and help the BHF continue its life saving work.

For every 120 bags of good quality items, the BHF could supply life saving equipment like a 24 hour heart monitoring unit while 200 bags of donated stock could help provide an external temporary pace maker to local hospitals.

By dropping off unwanted items to your local BHF shop you'll give them a new lease of life and in the process help the charity raise vital funds in the fight against heart disease, which remains the nation's biggest killer.

Readers can find their local BHF shop by visiting bhf.org.uk/shops or calling 0870 120 4141.

The charity has shops at 184 Balham High Road, Balham, 65 High Street, Putney, 153-155 Wandsworth High Street, Wandsworth.
