PASSENGERS narrowly avoided injury after a brick was thrown through the window of a moving bus.
A yob threw the brick, which shattered a side window, at the bus showering glass over a mother, her baby and an elderly lady.
The 603 bus, operated by university company Uno, was travelling along Howlands - near the QEII hospital - in Welwyn Garden City, at around 3pm on Wednesday April 4.
Police are hunting a boy, thought to be in his mid-teens, who was wearing a light grey hooded top.
PC Andy Moore, investigating the incident, said: "This may have been seen as a harmless prank, but could have had tragic consequences.
"Amongst the passengers who were hit by flying glass was a woman with her young baby and an elderly lady, who thankfully escaped injury.
"We would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident and also to urge people to think about the serious consequences actions like this could have.
"It is not a prank.
"It is mindless vandalism and could cause serious injury."
A spokesman for Uno said the company was working with Hertfordshire County Council to investigate ways of tackling violent behaviour and vandalism on public transport.
Anyone with information should contact PC Moore on 01707 638129.
