A man with red eyes and hair is being hunted after he exposed himself to children.

The man, who had coloured highlights in his hair and red-tinted contact lenses, flashed at youngsters in Woodstock. The incident took place at 8.25am on March 30, in Shipton Road, near the Box of Delights newsagents and convenience store.

Police published the details only yesterday.

The town's Police Community Support Officer Phil Workman said: "This was an extremely unpleasant incident which caused terrific upset.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident and has any information please pass it on to us."

The flasher is thought to be in his mid-30s.

The owner of the Box of Delights, who did not wish to give his full name (gave his name as Mr Patel), said: "It is worrying that this person is still on the loose.

"There are two schools here - the Marlborough School and Woodstock primary - so it is a concern.

"Fortunately nothing seems to have happened since, but I hope the police find him."

Mr Workman said that despite the incident, there had been a six per cent reduction in crime in the town and neighbouring villages in the year up to April, compared with the previous 12 months.

He said: "I am happy to report that there has been a reduction in crime.

"This has been achieved partly due to the extremely hard work put in by the neighbourhood team, led by Sgt David Yates."

Anyone with information about the indecent exposure should call Woodstock police, via 08458 505505, or leave a message anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
