THOUSANDS of bikers are expected to descend on Southend seafront this weekend as part of an annual charity ride.
The Southend Shakedown will take place on Easter Monday, when people can enjoy the spectacle of several thousand motorbikes of every type imaginable on display.
Organisers expect 20,000 bikes to be on display. The bikers will travel from the Ace Cafe, in Stonesbridge, London, to the seafront to take part in the ninth annual event, which has grown in popularity each year.
Roger Glover, 60, of Chestnut Grove, Southend, who helps organise the event, said: "We've noticed we're getting more families each year.
"Most bikers are expected to arrive in Southend between 11am and noon on Monday."
