EMMA Cameron's article of February 28 about Leighton Hospital was not very reassuring. Most hospitals blame lack of funds to spend on patient care, which goes on administration costs.

I understand that computers were supposed to simplify the day to day running of large organisations, but they do not seem to help the finances of Leighton Hospital.

The virus infection and the Salisbury case have made a deep impression on elderly patients.

Happy staff equal happy patients, the Governments' mean increase in nurses' pay is not going to help matters.

The media tell us that young doctors cannot get jobs, but foreign doctors come over here and find work easily.

This does not help morale in the NHS either.

I have known many friends who have been in Leighton Hospital and cannot speak too highly of the care they received, and others who dread going there.

I do feel that those in charge and have the influence to change things should really think very hard about improving the situation.

A lot of very ill people and hard working medical staff are depending on you to do so.
