TALENTED young musicians have recorded a 100 per cent pass rate in recent school exams.

The pupils from Queen Mary's School, at Topcliffe, near Thirsk, achieved perfect results.

One pupil, Chloe Latchmore, scooped a Waine music award from St Peter's School in York, securing a place at the school and winning the award for best musical school entrance audition.

Nicholas Carter, Topcliffe's director of music, said: "I am really pleased with this excellent set of results.

"It also maintains our 100 per cent pass rate in music throughout the year so far."

In the flute section, Chloe Latchmore gained a merit at grade seven; Emily Hill a merit at grade five; Imogen Coughlan a pass at grade three and Emily Tuley a pass at grade three.

Madeleine Hunter scooped a merit at grade five in singing, while cellist Megan Weetman secured a pass at grade five.

In the piano section, Emily Bourner earned a pass at grade four and Chloe Latchmore a distinction at grade three.

The alto-sax section saw Chloe Lister earn a distinction at grade four, with Camilla Easby gaining a merit at grade three.

Tessa Whitwell received a pass at grade four on the cornet and Charlotte Whitfield gained a grade eight pass on the clarinet.

In the theory area, Heather Yendall received a grade five pass, Jessica Morgan a grade four pass and Hebe Trotter a grade one distinction, while Chloe Elenor achieved a grade five merit in practical musicianship.
