A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after a road accident near Stamford Bridge.
The crash happened on the westbound lane of the A166 at Garrowby Hill at 7.50pm on Sunday when a 23-year-old man, from Flamborough, lost control of the red Vauxhall Corsa he was driving.
The car left the road, rolled over and came to rest in a field.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, was taken to York Hospital by the emergency services before being transferred to Leeds General Infirmary with what police described as "very serious head injuries".
Anyone who witnessed the accident or saw the vehicle before the crash travelling along the A166, is asked to phone officers in the East Yorkshire traffic unit at Humberside Police on 0845 6060222, quoting log number 668.
