STAGED at Evesham Rugby Club and organised by Wychavon District Council Community Development Team, sporty Wychavon youngsters "try-ed" their best during a seven-a-side mixed tag tournament that attr-acted 15 teams from 12 First Schools.
Ashton, Bengeworth, Bredon Hancock's Endowed, Broadway, Crowle, Defford-cum-Besford, Harvington, Littleton, Sedgeberrow, St Mary's, Elmley Castle and St Richard's were the schools taking part.
The competition was as hot as the weather with more than 160 tag-tastic boys and girls playing some outstanding rugby over 51 nail-biting games.
Crowle and St Mary's reached the final that provided non-stop end-to-end action with both teams scoring some superb tries.
The match providing a thrilling climax to an sizzling day with Crowle eventually claiming sevens success after a 9-3 victory. The third and fourth place clash between Broadway and Elmley Castle saw the former triumph after extra-time.
Both finalists received medals from the Mayor of Evesham and the winners the Tournament Trophy. All teams received certificates.
