RESIDENTS benefiting from a home meals service were invited to a lunch at Woolwich Town Hall.
The event celebrated the new meal delivery scheme, which hands out seven portions to residents in one weekly delivery, rather than daily.
This means elderly people can now plan ahead and order what they want to eat for a week.
Greenwich Council, which runs the service, says the change will give elderly residents more independence.
Service user Ethel Belton, 82, from Eltham, said: "I am very grateful to get these meals.
"The people who deliver them are very friendly and nice."
Launched more than 40 years ago, the service is run principally for people referred through social services.
Elderly residents and anyone who is infirm can sign up to the scheme.
The lunch was attended by Greenwich Council deputy mayor Councillor Sajid Jawaid and Councillor David Grant, cabinet member for adults and older people's services.
