I FULLY endorse the views of E G Darch, Gazette and Herald April 19 Explanation overdue regarding Calne Leisure Centre.
I attended the council meeting at Calne Town Hall on April 16 expressly to hear the position of our councillors on this matter.
However, with the usual council business and well-earned presentations, the two items concerning cemetery regulations and the leisure centre issue were somewhat delayed.
In fact, at 9.35pm, when a second comfort stop had been declared for a further 15 minutes, I decided, like many others, that it was time to leave, with a mile walk home and our scanty police cover in mind it is unwise for a lone elderly female to be out and about.
It was surely optimistic of councillors to expect to cover two such emotive issues plus normal business in one evening.
I would like to know what was the outcome of the leisure issue but I believe even the Gazette reporter had given up by then, as I see no report in today's paper.
The two questions most leisure centre users want to know are: 1) what happened to all the money, and 2) why us?
An explanation is certainly overdue.
