STUDENTS from Bucks proved quite a success at an international drama festival.

The group from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) took part in the week long Festival d'Hiver in France earlier this month.

And they received four award nominations, including Best Play for Ten for the Superego, Best Actor for Anthony Newman, and Best Actress for Elizabeth Amisu and Rachel Price.

Rachel, who is a second year Drama and Creative Writing student at BCUC, scooped the Best Actress award, and says: "I won a school drama prize for excellence, and have taken part in a number of performances, but have never entered a competition before; it was fantastic to win a prize first time."

Student teams are selected from applications by higher education institutions across Europe.

The BCUC team was one of only seven finalists chosen, and the only British group selected. They were pitted against students from universities in France, Italy, Serbia and Spain.

The entrants live with the other competitors and the jury at the campus of the HEC School of Management near Paris, and share experiences with students from other countries.

Field Chair in Drama at BCUC, Donna Savery adds: "This is an outstanding achievement and we are very proud that the students have had such huge success at this level. It is a measure of their dedication and hard work."

The play script, written by Nicola Radin and Elizabeth Amisu, will be shown alongside the work of other BCUC students at this year's international design show in Milan, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile.

All the work on show in Milan is based on the theme of ten, marking the tenth anniversary of BCUC exhibiting.
