SIR - An earlier letter of mine about the Park at the Heart' consultation predicted that because of the way the questions were phrased a small number of people would reply but that a high number would be in favour and that consequently these figures would be used as "spin" to show how the majority of Bradford residents were in favour.

Well the report (T&A, April 18) stated that "nearly 3,000 people" have had their say.

Taking the metropolitan district's population as 470,000, that is 0.64 per cent - less than one per cent!

Then comes the spin when the report goes on to state that this "response has shown overwhelming support with more than 73 per cent backing the bid".

Seventy-three per cent of 3,000 is 2,190 which in turn is 0.46 per cent. So less than half of one per cent is considered overwhelming, is it?

At this rate 0.1 per cent or just under 500 people would be a majority and could decide on what the other 469,500 people are going to have their money spent on.
