SEVERUS SC kept their noses in front of the York F1 Racing Premier Karting League division one - but only just.

Reigning champions Hounds keep snapping at their heels after they edged out Acomb WMC 3-2.

Severus were 2-0 up before a double from Gray drew Acomb level. Then two injuries reduced Acomb to nine men but it wasn't until the 93rd minute that Severus snatched the winner to keep their title hopes alive.

Hounds, who have a couple of games in hand, maintained pressure on the leaders with a 2-0 victory over Derwent United. It was a fiercely contested match and it wasn't until the 75th minute when the deadlock was broken by Chris Harkin as he finished a great team move from eight yards.

Derwent almost drew level but dragged a shot wide and in the dying minutes Harkin pounced again from an acute angle to keep Hounds on track for a second successive title.

Marcia continued their recent good form with a 2-0 win over Thorpe United with goals from Mark Cole and Scott Clapham.

Selby Olympia WMC had a fine 4-2 win over Hambleton thanks to strikes from Craig Anderson, Paul Tanton, Steve Jeff and Danny Chadwick. Jonathan Farrar hit both Hambleton replies.

Division two leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers maintained their title push with a 2-1 win over bottom club Shoulder Of Mutton.

Shoulder had been in front for the majority of the game with a Phil Geen goal but Wiggy pounced twice in the last three minutes through Neil Walker and Jamie Green to steal the points.

Shipton ran out 3-0 winners over Hemingbrough with Hunter, Chapman, and Evans all on the scoresheet.

Skelton grabbed a win over Deramore Arms after coming from a goal down. Michael Horner put Deramore ahead but Neale Holmes got the equaliser and five minutes from the end struck the winner.

The division four title race is going down to the wire after leaders Cross Keys were beaten 4-1 by second-placed Station FC to have their lead at the top cut to two points. Simpson (2), Shooter and Coulthard were Station's marksmen with Howells replying for Key. Enterprise came from behind to edge out New Earswick 2-1.
