MP John Baron quizzed Prime Minister Tony Blair over Iraq during PM Questions.

Tory Mr Baron asked the PM what basis he had to claim, on September 24, 2002, that it would only be a year or two before Saddam Hussein acquired a usable nuclear weapon.

Mr Baron said he had been unable to find any basis for the claim, which was also included in the Iraq dossier.

The Prime Minister answered that he did not agree with Mr Baron's statement, claiming that Saddam Hussein could have become a nuclear threat.

Afterwards, Mr Baron said: "The Prime Minister ducked the question.

"The simple fact is that the intelligence services did not agree with his claim, while further recent evidence suggests there was no basis for it.

"So, how is it the Prime Minister could make this claim, unless it was part of a campaign of spin to convince this country to go to war?"
