WES Wright certainly awakened some pleasant memories in his article, Bringing Back Sweet Memories, on April 21.
Just such a sweet shop he highlights was to be found in Fletcher Street, Great Lever, opposite to the Ritz - formerly Atlas.
My husband, Raymond, captured it in pen and wash in the 1960s, before its demolition due to neighbourhood re-development. It was known as Edna Smith's.
Have we sacrificed these delights of childhood in the name of progress?
