GRAHAM Heathcote remained surprisingly upbeat after watching his side suffer a 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals Tamworth on Saturday.

The defeat left the Robins precariously placed above the Conference dropzone and if results on Tuesday night don't go their way, survival may no longer be in their hands.

But despite the odds stacking up against his team, Heathcote believes a win against Aldershot on Saturday will be enough to avoid the drop.

Speaking after Saturday's game, the Alty boss said: "Tamworth were the better team and more hungry in the first half and I think we were second half.

"But they stuck one chance in of the few there were and their keeper made a very good save off Colin (Little) to keep us out.

"It was not a good game of football but the pitch was very poor. You couldn't have played passing football on that pitch.

"In a league that prides itself on its pitches that was very poor. But it was the same for both sides so I have no qualms with that.

"Tamworth were celebrating after the game but they're not safe, they've just got a chance to stay up.

"If we win our last game we'll stay up and we're at home so I don't know what they're all cheering about because they've just won a game that's given them a chance.

"We're already in that position, it's just a chance of whether we can take it.

"They're still two points behind us so I wouldn't want to swap with them, I'd rather go in with our position into the last game.

"I'm still confident. We've got one game to win and we're more than capable of doing that. Hopefully we'll get a good following at Moss Lane and that will lift everybody.

"There's a lot of if and buts. We've got to see how the midweek results go and work on that basis. At the moment we're not in the bottom four."
