A MAN has suffered burns and smoke inhalation after a fire at a house yesterday afternoon.
Fire crews from Peckham and New Cross fire stations were called to the house, in Linden Grove, New Cross, at 5.15pm.
The blaze had already damaged part of the ground floor and there was thick smoke throughout the building.
The man was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The fire was under control within half an hour and the cause of it is now under investigation.
