AN Oxford man has been charged by police following a series of animal rights raids.
Stephen Barclay, 50, of Redbridge Hollow, Oxford, was last night charged with conspiracy to blackmail.
Hampshire Police, which led 30 raids across the UK, Belgium and Holland targeting animal rights extremism, previously wrongly announced Barclay had been released on police bail.
Barclay has been bailed to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on May 15.
Following the raids on Tuesday, seven people have been charged with conspiracy to blackmail and two women have been charged with blackmail.
