A PILOT scheme offering businesses the chance to recycle waste paper and cardboard has been launched.
Sixty businesses in the Richmond area have signed up for the district council initiative.
Austin Orton, of The Big Ozzy Clothing Company, said: "We signed up because we think virtually 100 per cent of our trade waste is probably paper or card-based, and with the recycling contract cheaper than our previous trade waste rates, it's saving us money, too."
Jules Thompson, Richmondshire District Council's waste management officer, said: "One-anda- half tonnes of paper and card was collected in the first week of the scheme alone. It's a great start."
