I AM writing in response to K S Friend's letter entitled "Ban Pub Swearing" which was featured in the BFP on Friday, March 16.
First of all I agree with you Mr Friend, foul language is offensive. Public houses are often a male-dominated social place.
As a young single lady I often struggle to find a public house where I can feel safe from leering old men as they often perceive a lonely single drinker in a pub as easy prey after several pints of Dutch courage.
I believe that after July 1 when the smoking ban comes in, all pubs will be a safer place for women to drink. Roll on July 1.
