ELDERLY and vulnerable people are being urged again not to let strangers into their homes.
Kent Police have issued the warning following an incident last weekend, when two men posing as gardeners talked their way into the home of a 73-year-old woman.
The men made off with a quantity of cash from her home in Shepherds Lane, Dartford.
Detective Sergeant Mike Worrall said: "There's a whole host of stories that can come out and it's hard to know who is genuine and who isn't, but under no circumstances should you allow people into your house when you don't know who they are.
"Always ask for identification, but remember that ID cards can easily be faked so if you're in doubt contact the caller's company or the police to verify the person's identity.
"If the person is genuine they won't mind waiting while you check their identity."
