MORE pressure is to be put on the Highways Agency to ditch plans for a giant flyover on football pitches in Blackbrook, Taunton.
Somerset County Counil's executive board will call on the HA to look at other ways of linking the A358 to the M5 when the Ilminster-Taunton becomes a dual carriageway.
The 20-metre high loop has provoked huge local opposition from people in Blackbrook Way and Marden Grove who are worried it will be within yards of their front doors.
Now the county's executive board is expected to ask the HA to look again at the route alignment of the A358 and to keep the council closely involved in the development to protect Somerset's interests.
County Hall will also call on the HA to provide more facilities for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders; demand more noise reduction measures; and request an alternative junction to the Blackbrook loop.
