MEMBERS of Warndon Parish Council in Worcester are concerned that people are still leaving their satellite navigation systems in their cars, despite the risks of theft, following a spate of break-ins.

Councillor Marc Bayliss said the council should do all it could to make people aware of the risks of leaving expensive equipment on display in their cars.

He added: "A friend of mine had a car broken into. He had left his sat-nav in the front of the car. Is there any way we could remind residents to make sure they take them out?

"They're the number one target for people stealing and entering cars. I wonder if we could highlight the issue in our newsletter."

The remarks follow a crime report read out by new chairman Ray Morris at a meeting of the council held at Lyppard Grange Community Centre, Ankerage Green, Warndon, on Monday night.

The report, which was compiled by the police, revealed that there had been four assaults, seven incidents of criminal damage, two house burglaries, one non-dwelling burglary, 10 vehicle crimes and 10 road traffic accidents in Warndon Villages during the last month.
