A Canvey teenager looks taylor made for success after signing a two year scholorship with Premiership outfit Charlton Athletic.

Taylor Sinfield - who attends Thundersley's King John School - will begin full time training with the Addicks this summer.

And despite being just 16-years-old, the promising defender regularly plays in the Londoners' under-18 side and has already made his reserve team debut.

"I'm really pleased to have signed up for Charlton," said Sinfield.

"It's good news for me and hopefully I can keep progressing with them now."

Sinfield caught Charlton's eye while playing for Leyton Orient four years ago.

The South Londoners even parted with a transfer fee to secure the services of the then 12-year-old.

Since then, Sinfield has continued to blossom and he eventually hopes to work his way into the first team.

"That's obviously my main ambition and I will work hard to try and achieve it because it's always been my dream," said the Tottenham Hotspur supporter.

"Charlton are an excellent club and they have a good record of bringing players through.

"You've got more chance here as well because a lot of the clubs these days are fielding more foreigners, but that isn't Charlton's style and I'm glad to have joined them."

Sinfield started his career with Canvey and looks to have a big future in the game.

He appeared as a subsitute for Charlton's reserves recently against an Arsenal side which included both Justin Hoyte and Armand Traore.

The Addicks, managed by former midfielder Mark Kinsella, won 3-0 and they have high hopes for Sinfield.

"Taylor is a very good young defender," said a club spokes-man.

"It was an excellent achivement for him to make his reserve team debut when aged only 16 and he will be in for pre-season when we come back in after the summer."
