As the election agent for the UK Independence Party in Basildon, may I thank everyone who voted UKIP last Thursday.

We are pleased with our results in our maiden attempt at winning representation to serve on Basildon Council.

There will be those who complain UKIP cost the Tories a seat in Pitsea North West. It doesn't matter if either the Lib Dems, Labour or the Tories win, as all three parties continue to sell us out to Brussels.

One good example was the Tory/Labour campaign to stop the recycling plant in Courtauld Road. Brussels wants all councils recycling by 2010 and after that date, they will be fined £150 a tonne. Isn't it funny neither party mentioned the fact this plant is needed just to keep Brussels happy?

We will be back next May, with plans to contest as many, if not all seats.
